Lovely overnight stay at the Blue Boar. All staff have been friendly and efficient. The room was spot on, nice touch of a coffee machine in the room. Good parking and convenient for the town. Would definitely return if in the area.

We paid our first visit to Maldon for a weekend music workshop. The Blue Boar is located in the heart of the town centre, one of the oldest inns in Maldon and the building reflects this charmingly in its original wooden beams and squeaky floorboards. It contains sash windows, hence no double glazing, but even in January, was heated sufficiently. The cosy bar is a few steps across the cobblestone yard with a huge original stone fireplace and above it is the Long Room, with a stunning beamed ceiling. Our ensuite room has been modernised to reflect C18th style furniture plus flat screen tv. A generous breakfast choice was included in our booking. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again but probably in the summer as the dark grey skies did not show the town in it's best light.

Lovely hotel. Carpark is difficult to find and not well sign posted. Friendly staff, clean rooms and great breakfast.

Nice hotel. Well located in the centre of Maldon. There is unreserved parking available. The staff were very attentive. Small issue that our room, despite asking, was not cleaned on the first day. Breakfast was good.

Visited overnight to attend a wedding and I wish I had booked the week. The rooms are lovely with all details to ensure a comfortable stay. The breakfast was delicious and fresh! Clearly cooked to order. The staff were wonderful and attentive, chatty and generally a pleasure. The building itself gave me butterflies. Authentic, gorgeous decor and beautiful hallways and the lobby made me want to curl up in an armchair with a book ♡♡ the history is interesting and truly honoured throughout. I think it's worth saying too that the place was spotless - with all the decor yous expect some neglected bits but the place was impressively immaculate. If you do stay find time to wander the main street, the independent businesses are beautiful and inviting. Thankyou to everyone on shift during our stay. We will see you again soon.

I love showing friends this rustic place full of character and mystery. The pub, courtyard, and hotel next door are so unusual... suit of armor, stuffed wild animals on the walls, it's all a bit medievil but that's why I like it! Lovely big hall upstairs ideal for private function hire with its own bar too. Go see it! Friendly staff here too.

What a quant place to have a drink. Lots of history! To image that horse drawn carriage would travel here is mind blowing. If you have time I recommend visiting here!!!

Very nice stay. Good location in town. Easy access to shops and restaurants. A short walk to the water front. A nice clean room. Slightly small though, but we only use the room to sleep. Very squeaky floorboards though. I hope the room below wasn't affected. Being picky, no tissues and no shelf in the shower. The emergency light is on all night too.

We met a friend here in the evening for a drink and parked in the car park whilst in the pub garden, at a glance, the signage said it's good to park there after 5pm... Apparently you have to also leave your reg plate and get a digital permit from behind the bar... we found this out as we got FINED £60 for not doing this?! Are you serious? We even contested it after paying within the 2 weeks, and you still said no refund, even after proving we were patrons of the pub. Maybe you can use that £60 towards making a clearer sign... What a scam, NEVER coming here again.

I visit the Blue Boar and often park my car there when I do, I even used to work there!! Unfortunately, on one occasion I didn't put my car reg in the parking tablet quick enough and received a FINE. Expecting to be treated nicely, I went into the pub office to ask a couple of ladies who I didn't know to help as id only EVER used the carpark to go the the pub. They seemed to take an instant dislike to me as the reception I got was frosty at best (shame as the bar staff are lovely!) but however suggested they could look at the cctv and help out THEY CLEARLY DIDNT BOTHER as ive just received £100 fine. Not sure they got the memo about excessive parking fines being against the law! BEWARE AS THEY DONT SEEM TO WANT TO TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS WELL, also that you only get 10 minutes to put your car reg in and sometimes the que takes longer to go down. Shame as it’s a lovely place!!!!!!!!!!!

Tucked away in a shady corner, this is the perfect quiet spot for some food. I stayed here a couple of times when my partner and i first began seeing each other. Its an ideal location in town. Right in the middle, yet just out the way. The rooms are lovely, and the service is great. Sitting in the courtyard with a salad on a sunny day, is genuinely picturesque.

This is a very well loved micro brewery and historic Inn. There is always a good selection of ales and drinks. I have not stayed at the hotel.
